Safeguarding at Silvertrees

All the governors and staff at Silvertrees Academy share the same objective to help keep all children safe by contributing to:

  • Providing a safe environment for them to learn.
  • Identifying children who are suffering or likely to suffer significant harm and take appropriate action with the aim of making sure that they are kept safe both at home and in school.

To achieve our objective to keep all children safe we aim to:

  • Prevent unsuitable people from working with the children.
  • Promote safe practices.
  • Identify instances where there are concerns about a child’s welfare and take appropriate action to keep them safe.
  • Contribute to effective partnership working between all those involved in providing services for our children.

Operation Encompass

As a Sandwell School we are part of Operation Encompass which is a Police and Education early intervention safeguarding partnership that supports children and young people exposed to Domestic Abuse.  It aims to ensure Schools are notified in a timely manner of any Domestic Abuse incident where children are present or registered at the address.

If you or anyone you know is affected by domestic abuse you can seek help through the school or through Black Country Women’s Aid (Sandwell) who can be reached on 0121 553 0090 or http://www.sandwellwomensaid.co.uk.

In every force, in every school, for every child.

Our safeguarding policy is attached below but can also be found in our Policies section.

Health & Safety at Silvertrees

All the governors and staff at Silvertrees Academy share the same objective in making sure that we have a safe and secure environment to learn and work in.

We asked SIPS Education to commission an audit of our  health and safety management systems which we have in place. This was undertaken in line with the Health and Safety Executives’ ‘HSG65’ Publication, ‘Successful Health and Safety Management’.

They reported back a healthy audit and commented the following;

''The audit showed that the school has a robust H&S management system and should be commended for the work that has been put in to establish this.''

''I would also like to thank all staff in the school who were all very helpful and friendly whilst I was carrying out the audit.''
