Physical Education

At Silvertrees Academy we believe that physical education benefits all children in many ways and will set them up for a healthy and active future. Not only does exercise improve a child’s overall health and fitness, it also helps to improve their mental health and cognitive development.

We aim to fulfil each child’s potential through a varied and progressive curriculum that is enriched through a range of extra-curricular clubs, sporting experiences and physical activities. The children are taught a range of sporting skills, movements and subject vocabulary in a fun, engaging and active way.  We hope that every child will feel inspired to become physically active citizens that benefit from a life-long participation in sport and exercise.

We encourage the children to ‘Be The Best That You Can Be’ in our lessons by promoting our core values of well-being, resilience, responsibility and achieving alongside the skills of teamwork and respect.  We celebrate the success of all pupils within the school and value the importance of recognising achievements at all levels.

At Silvertrees we take a head, hand heart approach in all subjects to develop the children's  knowledge, skills and positive attitudes. These are the head, hand, heart aims we want all children to achieve in physical education by the end of Year 2...

To achieve the curriculum aims in PE,  long term plans sequentially map learning using elements of the PE Rising Stars scheme alongside our own PE curriculum ...
