Who are the main characters?

Where is the story set?

What is problem or problems?

How do the problems get resolved?

Task

Create a story map, you can use the story to help you, if you cannot remember what happens.

Draw pictures to represent each IMPORTANT part of the story – there is a template you can download in resources.

After you have drawn a story map, use it to re-tell the story in your own words.

Re-cap the story The Three Little Pigs

Can you use your story map from yesterday to re-tell the story?

Task

Complete a book review the story – see book review template.

This means writing about the parts you like and dislike.

Sentence starters:

I like the part when …

I do not like it when …

When you have thought of your sentence, say it 5 times, counting on your fingers, how many words are in your sentence.

Now, have a go at writing the sentence on your own, using your Phonics sounds and tricky words.

When you’ve written your sentence, make sure that you have got:

-Capital letters at the start of your sentence

-Finger spaces between your words

-Full stop at the end of your sentences

When you have finished writing your sentences, can you draw a picture of your favorite part? What happened? Where are they? Who was there?

Challenge: Can you use your toys to act out the story? How many characters are there? Will you need anything else? You could draw pictures of the houses for the wolf to blow down.

Wednesday 6th May 2020:

Re-cap the story The Three Little Pigs

Task

Write a letter to the wolf.

Today we are going to write a letter to the wolf. But first we need to think about why we are writing him a letter.

I would like write to the wolf and ask him if he would like some help to build his own house, so he doesn’t need to blow anyone else down!

Perhaps you might want to ask the wolf some questions about himself.

Why did you blow down the houses?

Why are you big and bad? Etc…

Remember when we start a letter we need to say who is it for.

Eg. “Dear, Big Bad Wolf”

Then we need to say who it is from.

Eg. “From Miss Charman”

Thursday 7th May 2020

Re-cap the story The Three Little Pigs

Task

Today we are going to write some instructions to build a house, so The Three Little Pigs can build some new houses.

What will we need to build a house?

Do you think bricks or wood would be better?

Remember when we write instructions we need to number them so they are in the right order.

Eg. 1. Get the bricks.

2. Put them down and stack them.

3…

Think about the sentence you would like to write for your instruction and count the words on your fingers and say it 5 times.

Now use your Phonics sounds and tricky words.

When you’ve written your sentence, make sure that you have got:

-Capital letters at the start of your sentence

-Finger spaces between your words

-Full stop at the end of your sentences
