Summer 1 Week 3

This week we will be using ‘Polly Phonics’ again to help us practise Phase 3 sounds

 

Monday –

 

Use the PowerPoint in the resources at the bottom of the page to recap all of the Phase 2 and Phase 3 sounds.

After you have done this, use the tricky word PowerPoint to recap tricky words. How many can you remember?

Before we start…you will need a pencil and some paper OR you can use your writing book.

Last week you learnt the following sounds:

Now watch the video:

After each picture in the video, have a go at using your robot arms to sound out the word and write down the sounds that you can hear.

Now use ‘Roll and Read’ from the resource section. If you have got a dice, take it in turns to roll the dice and read one of the words corresponding to the correct number. If you have not, take it in turns with an adult to read as many of words from the page as possible.

 

Challenge – can you think of your favourite food to eat with a spoon? And then write a sentence about it.

My favourite food is … ( have a go at sounding it out by yourself).

Tuesday –

Use the PowerPoint in the resources at the bottom of the page to recap all of the Phase 2 and Phase 3 sounds.

After you have done this, use the tricky word PowerPoint to recap tricky words. Did you remember more than yesterday?

Before we start…you will need a pencil and some paper OR you can use your writing book.

After each picture in the video, have a go at using your robot arms to sound out the word and write down the sounds that you can hear.

Now play Dragons Den to practise reading words with the ‘ar’ sound in.

Challenge: Write a list of as many ar words you can think of, your family can help you too. Then pick one of words to write a sentence about.

e.g. The car is fast.

Adult to enter the following words:

Cork, torn, thorn, fork, port, short, torch, horn, born, tort

 

ADD ONE WORD THEN PRESS SAVE WORD, THEN ENTER THE OTHERS IN THE SAME WAY, ONCE THEY HAVE ALL BEEN ENTERED PRESS DONE.

 

Challenge – choose one of the words and write a sentence about it. See if you can use at least one tricky word in your sentence (the more the better).

 

Thursday –

After each picture in the video, have a go at using your robot arms to sound out the w and down the sounds that you can hear.

 

Now play snowball:                                      

Get an adult to help you, write as many ur words a you can think of on small pieces of paper, if you have post it notes, even better!

Here are some words to get you started: burn, fur, turn, curl, lurk, surf.

Now choose a word and segment and blend it using your robot arms, read it 3 times.

Next screw your word up throw it in the middle and choose a new one, keep going until you’ve read all the words.

 

Challenge: Can you write a sentence to match the picture?
