Summer 1 Week 2

This week we will be using ‘Polly’s phonics’ to help us practise

phase 3 sounds

 

 

Monday-
You will need your writing book or some paper and a pencil ready.
First practise reading all phase 2 and 3 sounds using the available PowerPoints.

Watch the first video ‘ai’-


Pause the video when each picture is displayed – Can you write that word?

e.g the darts picture is the word aim – segment to spell aim.

When you have completed writing the ai words – ask a grown up to point to each one- can you read it back to them? Once the video is complete – use the available worksheet to play read and draw- can you read the word/sentence and draw an picture to match? You can print the page or complete this in your workbook.

Challenge- Can you write your own ai word sentence?

Tuesday-
You will need your writing book or some paper and a pencil ready.
First practise reading all phase 2 and 3 sounds using the available PowerPoints.
Follow Monday’s link to access ‘Polly’s phonics’
Watch the second video ‘ee’-

Pause the video when each picture is displayed – Can you write that word?
When you have completed writing the ee words – ask a grown up to point to each one- can you read it back to them?
Once the video is complete – follow the link to play ‘sorting the sounds’

Click on each picture to hear the word- can you segment the sounds to spell the words?
Sort the pictures into the correct box- ai or ee.

Challenge- Can you use that word to write a short sentence?

 

Wednesday-
You will need your writing book or some paper and a pencil ready.
First practise reading all phase 2 and 3 sounds using the available PowerPoints.

Watch the third video ‘igh’-

Pause the video when each picture is displayed – Can you write that word? 
When you have completed writing the igh words – ask a grown up to point to each one- can you read it back to them?
Once the video is complete –Follow the link to play a 'Find the igh fish' game!

Challenge- Use the fish you catch to write sentences using those words. E.g The fish swam up high.

Thursday-
You will need your writing book or some paper and a pencil ready.
First practise all phase 2 and 3 sounds using the available PowerPoints.

Watch the fourth video ‘oa’-

Pause the video when each picture is displayed – Can you write that word? When you have completed writing the oa words – ask a grown up to point to each one- can you read it?
Once the video is complete – use the worksheet provided to complete ‘picture match’ can you write a word/sentence to match the picture using ‘oa’ words.

e.g The toad is in the boat.

Challenge- Get a grown up to write 3 oa words or sentences. Can you read them?

Friday-
You will need your writing book or some paper and a pencil ready.
First practise all phase 2 and 3 sounds using the available PowerPoints.

Watch the fifth video ‘oo-short’-

Pause the video when each picture is displayed –
Can you write that word? When you have completed writing the oo words – ask a grown up to point to each one- can you read it?
Once the video is complete – follow the link to play ‘picnic on Pluto’


Read the igh word and decide if it’s a real or fake word. Real words to go to Bob, fake words go to Obb.
