Phonics – Week 10

 

Monday 29th June:

  • Visit Phonics Play and login in using these details:

  • Click the Resources tab at the top of the screen and select Phase 6.
  • Scroll down to find and play the Planetary Plurals game. Add the correct ending to the words to make them plurals (more than one!) Either add –s or –es to the words.
  • Challenge: go on a hunt around your house and write a list of 10 objects. Now turn them into plurals by correctly adding –s or –es. Ask for help or use a dictionary/google if you’re not sure!

 

Tuesday 30th June:

  • Visit BBC Bitesize and learn all about Silent Letters - follow this link:

  • Watch the video and read the information to learn about these letters we find in words. Then play the game and complete the quiz to see what you have learnt!
  • Challenge: make a list of as many words that you can think of that have silent letters – now put them into sentences of your own.
  • For example: knight – The brave knight defeated a fierce, fire-breathing dragon.

 

Wednesday 1st July:

  • Visit ICT Games and play Dinosaur Eggs – follow this link:

  • Choose a group of words from 1-5 or if you want to challenge yourself, choose a group of words from 6-15.
  • Listen to the word and click the matching one.
  • Challenge: write down each word after you’ve selected the matching one, then at the end of the game see if you can write a sentence that contains as many of those words as possible!

 

 

 

 

Thursday 2nd July:

  • Click the Resources tab at the top of the screen and select Phase 6.
  • Scroll down to find and play Tumbling Tumbleweeds by choosing the correct rule in order to add the suffix –ing to the given verb.
  • For example: fry - do we drop the e and add –ing? Or double to consonant at the end and add –ing? Or do nothing and just add –ing?
  • Challenge: open the –ing crossword document at the bottom of the screen and complete the challenge. All of the words will end with –ing!

  • Play the games using your English skills – there will be some spelling challenges, some sentence structure activities and grammar skills games.
