Phonics Week 6

Year 1 Week 6 Phonics Home Learning

For our Phonics work we will be using the Phonics Play website and Espresso – remember you can get free access to Phonics Play using the username: march20 and Password: home

This week we are going to be revisiting the split digraphs from Phase 5.

 

 

Monday 1st June:

 

Focus sound – a-e

Read the a-e words below and then practise writing them adding your sound buttons.                

 

         made      cake      whale       safe      frame     shake

 

Practise writing these words in your books. Can you think of a sentence using one or more of these words?

 

Visit Phonics Play and play Buried Treasure, reading and sorting the real and nonsense  a-e words.

 

Challenge: Can you write down all of the other graphemes that you can think of that also make the a-e sound? Try to think of a word for each sound you can think of. Remember to take a picture to send us to show us your fantastic work.

 

Tuesday 2nd June:

 

Focus sound – e-e

Read the e-e words below and then practise writing them adding your sound buttons.

Practise writing these words in your books. Can you think of a sentence using one or more of these words?

 

Challenge: Can you write down all of the other graphemes that you can think of that also make the e-e sound? Try to think of a word for each sound you can think of. Remember to take a picture to send us to show us your fantastic work.

Click on Key Stage 1, English and scroll down to and click on Phonics. Now click on Ash’s Phonics, find the e-e sound and watch the video. After you have watched the video click on Activities and scroll down to the e-e activities and click on the spelling activity.   

 

Wednesday 3rd June:

 

Focus sound – i-e

Read the i-e words below and then practise writing them adding your sound buttons.            

 

         time      shine      slime       inside      like     smile

 

Practise writing these words in your books. Can you think of a sentence using one or more of these words?

 

Visit Phonics Play, click on resources, Phase 5 and scroll down to find the investigating igh resources. Click on the phoneme spotter. Read through it carefully and see how many different i-e words you can find. You can also complete the word sorting activity if you want to.

 

Thursday 4th June:

Focus sound – o-e

Read the o-e words below and then practise writing them adding your sound buttons.            

 

         home      phone      joke       throne      bone     rose

 

Practise writing these words in your books. Can you think of a sentence using one or more of these words?

 

Visit Phonics Play and play Picnic on Pluto. Can you read and sort the real and nonsense o-e words?

 

Challenge: Can you write down all of the other graphemes that you can think of that also make the o-e sound? Try to think of a word for each sound you can think of. Remember to take a picture to send us to show us your fantastic work.

 

Friday 5th June:

Focus sound – u-e

Read the u-e words below and then practise writing them adding your sound buttons.

Practise writing these words in your books. Can you think of a sentence using one or more of these words?
