Year 1 Week 4 English Home Learning
We know things are a bit different at the minute and you are probably missing lots of your friends and family members. This week we thought it would be nice for us to share the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Due to Corona Virus lots of us have to stay away from our Grandparents and family members. So we thought maybe it would be nice to send them a treat and to write them a letter to help cheer them up.
Monday 11th May.
Our book this week is Little Red Riding Hood.
If you've got the book ask someone to read it to you or read it through yourself, if not you can look at the Powerpoint on the following link -
As this is a traditional tale there are different versions of this story, so it would be lovely for you to see how your version is different from the Twinkl version.
Now try answering these questions about the story.
What was the story about? Who are the main characters?
What was your favourite part? Why?
Tuesday 12th May
There are lots of reasons why you might send or receive a letter. If you click on the link above you can look at different types of letters.
Can you make a list with a grown up and write down all the different types of letters they have sent or received?
If your child needs support writing the words they wish to write, you can help them to sound out using the phonics sheet sent home in their learning pack or you can scribe the words for them.
Wednesday 13th May
Have a look at the link above- it shows you how to set out a letter.
Who are you going to write your letter to? What would you like to say? What could you ask them?
For example -
What have you been doing at home?
What have you missed about them?
What would you like to do when the lock down is over?
Thursday 14th May
Today we would like you to write your letter.
Remember to include all of the key features you have looked at this week.
Maybe you could draw a picture of yourself at the end of your letter.
Friday 15th May
Little Red Riding Hood took a basket full of lovely things for her Grandma. Can you draw or make a basket filled with things that you would take for you Grandma or family member.
Maybe you could leave it on their doorstep to cheer them up?
Remember to send us a photo of the goodies you pack for your Grandma or a relative or neighbour.
